Memory
without origin (2003) Memory without origin is about species of spaces. The panels are traces of negotiation that took place within time. In this two series, I'm trying to make sense of space. what space as space would be? in what manner space is? what is the nature of space? The work evolved from my real-time animation, Split, in which I created a notion of liquid architecture. In Split, the time component activates and transforms these spaces by challenging our perception of boundaries - constantly shifting the boundaries causes space to become temporal. In Memory without origin, I removed the time aspect in order to reconstruct, and to recapture it again through multiple still images. The still images function as snapshots (memories) from the real-time event, and as an evidence / trace of time. |
