Becoming an Artist is about the process of how identity is generated. It is an ongoing attempt to re-claim and de-construct identity. It is about the state of being and the sense of time.
The piece is a real-time generated self-portrait that consists of other subjective selves. I'm using the faces of my fellow artists/associates. My face is blended with theirs to create a hybrid image of myself. My face image dynamically changes in relation to the others, and their faces change according to mine. This code-based practice constantly evolves and mutates the image, thus creating an ambiguous condition.
